Office of Transportation Cooperatives (OTC) Officer-in-Charge Medel H. Afalla inspired the attendees of the 2019 Transportation Cooperative (TC) Congress held on March 20-21, 2019 at the SMX Convention Center, Davao City, through his presentation on benefits of being a TC member, as well as OTC’s role in the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP).
OIC Afalla updated the participants with OTC’s accomplishment in performing its lead role in the Industry Consolidation pillar of the PUVMP. As of February 2019, the Agency accredited a total of 752 transport service cooperatives, in preparation for the implementation of the PUVMP.

“If you don’t put your heart and soul to what you’re doing, then you are nothing,” (borrowed statement from DOTr’s Secretary Arturo P. Tugade) the OTC OIC said, as he ended his speech. He addressed this to the TC officers and members, to drive them in improving their organizations and in getting ready for the full implementation of the PUVMP.
The TC Congress is a flagship event of the OTC and was attended by 310 participants, representing 111 transport service cooperatives, as well as officials from various government agencies.
