Delegates of the Office of Transportation Cooperatives, led by Chairman Emmanuel C. Virtucio, participated in the 3rd National Congress of Transport Cooperatives held on June 2-4, 2017 in Santiago City, Isabela. An annual event spearheaded by the National Federation of Transport Cooperatives (NFTC-BKKPPI), the congress seeks to “gather inputs from the transportation cooperative sector on the needed programs, projects and activities that should be undertaken to further develop the transport cooperatives.”
OTC, as the premier government agency mandated to promulgate rules and regulations on transportation cooperatives, showed its support to this endeavor by issuing a memorandum circular to all transport cooperatives to encourage them to participate in the congress. The agency also assisted in the invitation of distinguished guests from other concerned government agencies and prepared the OTC Road Map which was presented by Chairman Virtucio during the event. An inspirational message was delivered by Chairman Virtucio and he discussed the status of the transport cooperative sector as well as the present thrust or programs of OTC under his administration. He stressed that the Office is presently working on establishing strong linkages and partnerships with other relevant government agencies for the further growth and development of the transport cooperative sector. Lastly, he discussed the proposed establishment of OTC regional or extension offices to widen the agency’s reach and to improve service delivery to its stakeholders.
