The Office of Transportation Cooperatives (OTC) assures all transport cooperatives across the country that it will continue its support after Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vivencio Dizon reopened the application for consolidation.
This move is part of the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. to help both the consolidated entities and those individuals who have yet to consolidate—ensuring that no one is left behind.
Under the Department Order No. 2025-009 of the DOTr, public utility jeepney (PUJ) and utility vehicle express (UVE) operators shall be allowed to form a new transport service entity (TSE) or join an existing one under certain conditions.
OTC Chairperson Reymundo D.J. De Guzman, Jr. welcomes individual operators who take interest in applying for consolidation. The Agency is ready to resume conducting free seminars, workshops, and training deemed essential to build and strengthen the capacity of transport cooperatives.
“The DOTr, through the OTC, will continue and further enhance its capacity building programs including the conduct of Labor Law Seminar, Basic Fleet Management System Seminar, and the Drivers’ Training on Road Safety and Ethics,” Chairperson De Guzman explained.
Meanwhile, OTC Executive Director II and DOTr Spokesperson Ramon A. Ilagan likewise emphasized the ways forward of the Agency by providing transport cooperatives with free and quality activities, particularly an advanced level of training.
“As we fully embrace the PTMP and anticipate those who are willing to consolidate, the OTC remains steadfast in performing its mandate. We opt to offer several free capacity building initiatives on top of our flagship activities,” ED Ilagan elaborated.
“We are certain that these efforts will, in turn, help our drivers, operators, and allied workers in the sector to maximize their full potential in serving quality and safe public transportation for our commuters,” ED Ilagan further explained.
Among the top priorities of the current administration is to stimulate economic growth by means of modernizing the public transportation system of the country.
“Inter-modal connectivity will be a primary consideration. Roads, bridges, and mass transport systems will be interconnected. This network will provide access and passage to vital and bustling economic markets, such as agriculture hubs, tourism sites, and key business districts,” President Marcos, Jr. once asserted ###
