The Office of Transportation Cooperatives (OTC) continues to explore innovative and modern ways to help transport cooperatives and government regulators enhance the full implementation of the Public Transport Modernization Program (PTMP) across the country.
In a brief meeting last April 10, representatives of SafeTravelPH Mobility Innovations Organization elaborated its project dubbed as “PARASOL” system to OTC Chairperson Reymundo D.J. De Guzman, Jr. and Executive Director II and Department of Transportation (DOTr) spokesperson Ramon A. Ilagan.
The short discussion revolved around the relevance of technology, particularly the “PARASOL” system and the SafeTravel app, in gathering real-time data which are necessary to identify, monitor, and assess underlying concerns of public utility vehicle (PUV) operations in a transport cooperative. This includes key features of the project such as Route Network and Service Planning, Business Intelligence and Fleet Management Systems, Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) and Benchmarking Tools, and Access to Financing and Investments.
“This initiative to welcome and listen to potential concepts is part of both the DOTr and OTC’s broader efforts to integrate and empower the use of modern technology in improving our land transport services for the riding public,” Chairperson De Guzman, Jr. emphasized.
“The DOTr, through the OTC, always embraces such ideas which could be of great help not only for our stakeholders in the transport cooperative sector but also for our commuters,” ED Ilagan further asserted. ###
