𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞: The Office of Transportation Cooperatives (OTC) Board, at its 375th board meeting last April 24, 2025 in Quezon City, has laid down the criteria for the selection of a transport cooperative representative to the OTC board. The board is made up of 7 members led by the OTC Chairperson. The criteria considered for the selection should be the chairman of the federation and primary cooperative where he/she belongs. This will ensure that the Drivers, Operators, and Allied Workers are properly represented.Meanwhile, the OTC has also approved the accreditation of eight (8) transport cooperatives during the same meeting as part of its initiatives to secure mobility and ensure safety for the riding public.Of these numbers, two (2) transport cooperatives were granted full accreditation upon the endorsement of the OTC Technical Accreditation Committee (TAC), while six (6) others were given provisional accreditation. This particularly entails providing accreditation for various public utility vehicle (PUV) denominations including Public Utility Jeepney (PUJ), Utility Vehicle (UV) Express, Taxi, and Tourist Transport Service (TTS).The provision of accreditation is a mandate of the OTC which involves the processing and evaluation of application for accreditation of a duly registered transport cooperative. It undergoes strict assessment of the OTC TAC subject to approval of the OTC Board.Present during the regular board meeting were OTC Chairperson Reymundo D.J. De Guzman, Jr., Executive Director and Department of Transportation (DOTr) Spokesperson Ramon A. Ilagan, and PTMP representatives from the DOTr, Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB), Department of Labor and Employment – Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns (DOLE-BWSC), and Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG).
