The Office of Transportation Cooperatives (OTC) collaborated with the SafeTravelPH Mobility Innovations Organization last April 10 to explore more ways to cushion the technical demand of transport cooperatives on its operations, amid the nationwide implementation of the Public Transport Modernization Program (PTMP).SafeTravelPH shared with OTC the “PARASOL” system, an instrument that could enhance the fleet management system of transport cooperatives in the country and can consequently benefit the welfare of PTMP stakeholders including drivers and operators. The project can serve as a tool to generate real-time data that may be useful in monitoring, evaluation, and establishing decisions of transport operators and asset managers.OTC Chairperson Reymundo D.J. De Guzman, Jr., together with OTC Executive Director and Department of Transportation (DOTr) spokesperson Ramon A. Ilagan agreed that integration of modern technology is critical in the agency’s efforts in improving the PTMP. Both officials also believe that the meeting with the organization will benefit the riding public to experience a safe, reliable, and convenient public transport system in the country.
